Most modern vehicles have a disc brake system, which consists of a caliper, pads, and rotors. When the brake pedal gets pressed, the caliper squeezes the pads against the rotor to slow the vehicle. Calipers last the longest, about 10 years or 100,000 miles. But pads and rotors should get inspected every 30,000 miles or so. If you notice the vehicle pulling one direction, or if you hear a squealing sound when braking, there may be an issue.
